William Fichtner will play ‘The Shredder’ in upcoming ‘TMNT’ remake.

After quite some speculation, character actor William Fichtner has confirmed that he will, in fact, don the bladed helmet of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles main nemesis, The Shredder. In his interview with HUFFPOST TV CANADA, Fichtner was asked about the upcoming reboot and said;

“I play Shredder. It’s cool. It’s one of those things that came along where I thought, ‘Really? Let me think about this for a minute.’ [Laughs] Then I was like, ‘Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.’ I’m very glad that it worked out, I’m really glad that I’m doing it.”

When Fichtner first became attached to Michael Bay’s reboot of the classic “Turtles” story, speculation went nuts with who Fichtner would play stating that he would be playing an “iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology.”
Rumors abounded that Fichtner would actually be playing ‘Baxter Stockman’ another of the Turtles’ baddies. It would seem we were very wrong.

With Fichtner’s casting, the interweb is once again abuzz with confused and concerned TMNT fans who have been less than pleased with the casting of Megan Fox as ‘April O’Neil.” Simply having Bay at the helm of another of our beloved childhood properties has been enough to send ‘Turtles’ fans into fits.

If Just Cool Stuff can offer one bit of comfort, it would be in Mr. Fichtner’s resume’ as an onscreen baddie. He played the mob controlled bank manager in ‘The Dark Knight’ and he will be playing Armie Hammer’s nemesis in this summer’s blockbuster, ‘The Lone Ranger. Only time will tell if he will do justice to the baddest of the ‘Turtles’ baddies. Stayed tuned to JCS for updates.William-Fichtner-Shredder
